On the hills of Barbaresco

To the east of the city of Alba is a small hilly area that borders the Tanaro river and merges with the hills of Monferrato.

The home of Barolo. How else can we describe the Enoteca that, since 1982, has represented the extraordinary winegrowing territory of one of the most famous DOCGs in Italy? To learn more about this historic reality we interviewed executive director, Cristina Grimaldi, working for more than twenty-five years within the walls of Castello Falletti in Barolo, the prestigious location of an equally prestigious enoteca.

Innovative structures, almost one of a kind, to develop and promote winegrowing, the “enoteche regionali” were created after the issuing of the regional law no.37 of 12 May 1980. To learn more about the Enoteca Regionale del Roero, we interviewed Pier Paolo Guelfo, its president since 2017 and who has started its “digital revolution”.

Inside the wonderful deconsecrated church of San Donato, in Barbaresco, stands the Enoteca Regionale of this denomination. An open and welcoming place, showcasing one of the most acclaimed wines of the Langhe: « The best in the world, of course » says President Massimo Caniggia, whom we asked to describe the activities of his Enoteca.
